To set up a Linksys extender, first make sure you have the Wi-Fi name, security settings, password and broadcast channel for your router. You can normally get this information from your router settings or from a device like a computer or phone you already use to connect to the router. If you're not sure how, contact your internet service provider or check your router's manual.
Then, plug in your Linksys extender, wait for its lights to come on and the colors to remain stable. Plug an ethernet cable into your computer and into the router to connect the two devices. Some, but not all, extenders will also allow you to connect to an extender-specific Wi-Fi network for this configuration step if you don't have an ethernet cable handy. Open your web browser and navigate to the Linksys extender IP address, If you're prompted for a username and password, try the default settings with a blank Linksys login username and password "admin.
Once your extender is set up, you should be able to connect to it or your Wi-Fi router to access your network and the internet. Was this article helpful?
